Early Years & Inspiration

Azumi's artistic journey began in Wakayama, Japan, where she was born and raised, immersed in the beauty of nature, spirituality, and ancient heritage within a traditional family. Her upbringing included training in Japanese traditional cultural practices, and she was steeped in the teachings of ancient Shinto and Buddhism. Aesthetic appreciation blossomed through experiences like the Tea Ceremony, Kimono, and Japanese calligraphy.

Time in Europe

At the age of 21, driven by a passion for intercultural communication, Azumi ventured to Europe. There, she pursued her studies and business and became a trusted consultant in bridging the cultural gap in the corporate world, she lived and worked in the UK, Ireland, France, and the Netherlands, while reflecting on her Japanese roots and heritage.

Azumi initiated the Japanese Salon Art & Culture project in Amsterdam in 2009. This platform aimed to unite people and share the essence of Japanese culture and art, drawing from her learnings with masters in Japan. She became a thought leader on Japanese wisdom, delivering two TEDxTalks and sharing weekly insights on her YouTube channel.

Azumi seamlessly integrated art into her life, teaching Japanese Calligraphy and incorporating meditation practices both in Europe and New York. Her conceptual art has been commissioned by global companies such as Rituals Cosmetics, book covers, as well as private and corporate collections in London, Amsterdam, Dublin, and New York.

Japanese Tradition meets New York sophistication

In 2020, Azumi exhibited at Nomadworks, Broadway, New York, showcasing her signature black sumi ink Japanese calligraphy adorned with gold accents and Kimono fabric. During her visit to New York in 2021, she drew inspiration from the city's vibrant energy to create the "Hinode in 4 Seasons" series, capturing the sunrise over Manhattan. In her latest creations, Azumi decodes Japanese Kanji symbols and elements of nature, transforming them into abstract forms that infuse harmonious and peaceful energy into workspaces. Her works are now exhibited at Nomadworks Times Square.

Currently residing in Dublin, Azumi divides her time between Amsterdam, Japan and New York, continuing to bring peace and harmony and transcend boundaries through her unique artistic expressions.
